02-05-2013 Tuesday Recruiting Thread (NSD Eve)

National Signing Day is officially upon us. Kids will announce and send in their letter of intents and the fax machines will be cranked up early in the morning. UGA currently has 30 commits and could add a couple of more before mid afternoon. The Mark Richt press conference will be at 2pm at the Butts-Mehre building. He will be accompanied by defensive coordinator Todd Grantham and offensive coordinator Mike Bobo. Richt was released from the hospital yesterday following hip surgery that was performed on Saturday morning.

Reuben Foster- He committed to the University of Alabama on Monday Night.

Alvin Kamara- Looks as if he is favoring Alabama at this point, but the Alex Collins announcement to Arkansas could get interesting concering Alabama running backs. Henry is already enrolled, Tenpenny and Tyren Jones are already committed, and Alvin Kamara could be the 4th rb taken for the Tide. They have 4-5 scholarship running backs returning.

Tyren Jones- UGA staff has called Jones and told him if he wants to accept UGA’s scholarship offer, it is still on the table. With three RBs committed to Bama, and Kamara still yet to announce, it has been rumored that Tyren Jones would be asked to grey-shirt. Bama is nearing the max they can take in the class and with Jones having jaw surgery on Monday, he would figure to be the odd man out as RB at Bama. We will monitor this process throughout the day today and tomorrow morning.

Davin Bellamy- Strongly favoring UGA over Oregon and Tennessee as of this morning.

Montravius Adams- Looks to be a UGA, Clemson, Auburn race, but it looks like the Tigers have pulled out front for Adams. He is very good friends with Lawson and that could be a big factor come NSD tomorrow. There is still a chance Adams chooses the Dawgs because of his moms love for UGA and Mark Richt.

Laremy Tunsil- It looks like his process is over and he will be headed to Ole Miss.

George Adeoson- He is strongly considering the University of Georgia and it would be a surprise if he chose Oklahoma or Arizona State over UGA tomorrow. He hasn’t taken an official visit to UGA, although he has been on campus a few times. Adeoson is a hot commodity right now and if UGA could pull the upset on NSD for him it would take a little bit of the bitter out of the Laremy Tunsil situation. Adeosun has been bumped to a 4-star by 247 recently and is a very good offensive tackle.

Come join us right here, right now, all day as we talk UGA Football and recruiting. Share your predictions, and chat with other passionate dawg fans as we are one day away from NSD.

We get DB, GA, and a couple more. We could sign and place RS but he still doesn't have the qualifications to get in UGA

Also Devandre Seymour (ot) more than likely will qualify and sign tomorrow, its down to uga and auburn so hopefully with his Georgia connections (Richard Seymour) we can get him also

Lowdnes has spoken adams to Auburn is a done deal he said we get Bellamy and more than likely Auedson plus probobly 2 others nobody is talking about (sorry he didnt give names on those two) he also said for lack of a better term the coaches learned some valuable lessons with all the late misses and probobly approach the end of recruiting next year differently. To me those comments by the coaches are an admission they with a few of these guys they screwed it up the last two weeks, but we still will have a top 10 class and will be just fine. GO DAWGS

We need another rb we have Gurshall but the other two freshman may not be ready for the sec I know they are good players in high school but you will be playing against the best talent in the country . There have been plenty of better players who didnt pan out because the level of competition is not what their used to, I know we have the two walk-on's but if gurley or marshall gets hurt and the freshman arent ready were screwed. We are spoiled on Gurshall and have the mindset that the incoming freshman can or will be just as good but that's highly unlikely if we dont land another back who would we turn to, Gurley's running style reminds me of Adrian Peterson very physical and tough but that can wear on a body fast. When its all said and done I think we will be fine , just voiceing one of my concerns

If Coach Richt's press conference is at 2 that tells you Kamara to bama is a done deal he doesnt announce until 3:30

gthomason Interesting Point. I bet if AK decided to come to UGA tomorrow we would still take him even if the presser is at 2:00.

Doesn't mean anything, if you recall, all the festivities was over years ago when Marlon Brown announced for UGA.

I think if UGA did not sign any players tomorrow, it would beOK.  They got an excellent group of young men as EE's.  The class will only get better and depth issues can be addressed tomorrow which will take it from an OK class to an outstanding class, even without the big name recruits.

I think Foster will have academic issues wherever he goes and the football staff will have to pull strings to keep him on campus.

I think Tunsil will regret going to Ole Miss the first year he is there.  If tradition holds true the GF and he will part ways.

I think Kamara is afraid of competition and wants to go where he can be the starter without having to put in all the work.  In almost every interview he mentions the depth at a school.  Bama has a lot of RBs but they are not highly rated so it fits with the Kamara wanting to see the field right away with the minimal amount of effort.

The above three I do not see as great losses for UGA, too much drama and glory seeking.

Brb, did I read somewhere that Adams is a UGA lean as of a few minutes ago? His Momma seems to have a lot of pull!

Spoke with one of the Dooly coaches today. He seems to think it is a 2 horse race (UGA/clemson) for adams
